In most cases, regular pliers will do, but for fine work with square objects, you can’t go wrong with a pair of pliers. [Neil Paskin] decided to create his own couple from scratch. (YouTube)
Jaws are manufactured at [Paskin's] factory from round steel prior to heat treatment and tempering. The steel part of the handle is cut from 16 gauge steel sheet, half of which is stamped on a press to create a bridge around the pivot bolt. The handle stuffing is copper on one side and brass on the other, because Pascin didn’t have enough brass in the right size for both sides.
Steel and filler are bonded with epoxy and copper pins, after which the edges are bevelled and sanded to give the handle a comfortable contour. Plier bolts were originally simple hex bolts that were then machined to more aesthetically pleasing shapes and sizes. The finishing touches included electrolytic etching the logo on the bridge, which was then sprayed onto the pliers with a combination of grease and anti-corrosion spray. This is definitely a pair of pliers worth checking out.
If you like it, check out the Knipex pliers. I liked them so much that I ran out and bought all three sizes after I got the first one.
But they don’t offer this type of pliers… the next best replacement that comes to mind is their awesome wrench.
It’s unlikely to be child care, as usually Knipex is actually pretty good quality. Consistently ranked #1 in Project Farm tools unbiased testing videos.
87-41-250 for nasty bolts/fittings. Not *quite* in parallel, but they will do pretty much everything you do.
